Arlington, VA— The Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI) has announced the recipients of its two annual awards that recognize leaders in electrical safety.

Lorraine Carli of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) received the Foundation’s annual Outstanding Service Award in Honor of Harold Leviton, an award which was formally established in 2008 as a tribute to Harold Leviton’s impressive legacy and dedication to improving electrical safety. The award honors an individual who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in expanding the Foundation’s interests through steadfast involvement and effective leadership. ESFI Chairman David Tallman presented the award during ESFI’s Fall Board of Directors Dinner held in West Palm Beach, Florida on November 7, 2013.

Since her appointment to ESFI’s Board of Directors in 2009, Ms. Carli has played a vital role in helping ESFI increase its visibility through traditional and social media. As the Vice President of Outreach and Advocacy for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Ms. Carli oversees all of the organization’s media, public affairs, public education and wildland fire activities; working closely with staff on a variety of media and advocacy issues in all areas of fire and life safety.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) was named as the recipient of the 2013 Safety Award for Excellence (SAFE). The SAFE Award recognizes a company, nonprofit association or other industry-related organization for active and sustained efforts in support of ESFI’s mission to reduce electrically-related fatalities, injuries and property loss. S. Joe Bhatia, president and CEO accepted the honor on behalf of ANSI during the National Electrical Manufacturers Association’s 2013 Illuminations Dinner at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida on November 8, 2013.
