Kesko’s sales grew in February

The sales of Kesko Group’s continuing operations in February 2020 totalled €823.5 million, representing an increase of 10.5%. The comparable sales for continuing operations increased by 8.4%.

 

“Kesko’s sales grew in February by 10.5%. Sales grew in all divisions. In the grocery trade, sales grew in all chains, underpinned by growth in customer numbers. Sales development was also good in the building and technical trade. Sales grew in Finland and the Baltics in particular. Due to the leap day, the month had one more selling day than the year before,” says Mikko Helander, Kesko’s President and CEO.

 

Sales in the grocery trade totalled €422.5 million in February, an increase of 7.3%. Sales grew in all chains.

 

Sales in the building and technical trade totalled €331.3 million in February, an increase of 11.4% in comparable terms in local currencies. Comparable sales in the building and technical trade excluding the speciality goods trade grew by 11.1%. Sales in Finland grew by 11.7% and sales elsewhere by 10.5%. Sales in the speciality goods' leisure trade increased by 13.2%, while sales in the machinery trade grew by 18.4% in comparable terms. Reported sales in the building and technical trade increased by 13.3%.

 

Sales in the car trade totalled €71.4 million in February, representing an increase of 2.8% in comparable terms. Reported sales increased by 18.7%.

Change, % indicates the change when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. The comparable change % has been calculated in local currencies and excluding the impact of acquisitions and divestments completed in 2019.

 

The reported sales for Kesko Group’s continuing operations include the acquisitions carried out in 2019, which are Sørbø Trelast AS and Fresks Group in the building and technical trade, and the Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT businesses of Huittisten Laatuauto, LänsiAuto and Laakkonen in the car trade.

 

The number of delivery days in Kesko's wholesale in Finland in February 2020 was 20, which equals the number of days the year before. There was one delivery day less in January-February 2020 compared to the year before.
