Atlas Travel International Moves Up Eight Places on Travel Weekly’s Power List: Ranking Indicates Continued Growth Despite Economic Factors in 2009
July 7, 2010: Milford, Massachusetts – Atlas Travel International has moved up eight slots from number 52 to appear at number 44 on this year’s Travel Weekly Power List. Despite economic concerns during the previous year that negatively affected other travel companies, Atlas showed a sales increase of 9.7% that improved their ranking.
Atlas reported $145 million in total annual sales for 2009 with $91 million in ARC sales and 89% of the overall total coming from business travel. Their total sales numbers reflected a 15% increase in transactions. To support further growth they added a director of technology and automation to drive further in-house technology initiatives.
“We see economic challenges as an opportunity to look for gaps in the travel industry that need to be filled as other companies recede or change their business models,” said Atlas Travel International’s CEO, Elaine Osgood. “We believe in finding the right people to do the right job and that is reflected in our continued success.”
Looking ahead to 2010 Atlas has plans to expand its meetings and incentives initiatives for corporate customers. They also plan a more aggressive approach to finding partnerships and co-op advertising.
The Travel Weekly Power List, researched by a leading travel industry publication, is designed to annually rank the country’s top travel sellers. The method for the rankings is based on a company’s top dollar volume of annual sales for the previous year. The list also includes travel companies such as Expedia, Orbitz, American Express, and Boeing Travel Management.
