REPLAY XD ANNOUNCES SPONSORSHIP OF RACER ZACH VEACH
Young Andretti Autosport driver, named an athlete to watch by ESPN The Magazine, becomes a Replay Driver as he ascends the motorsport ranks and competes in Star Mazda open-wheel series.
Newbury Park, Calif. (September 21, 2011) – Replay XD has announced it will sponsor Andretti Autosport driver Zach Veach, a 16-year-old racing phenom from Ohio, in his quest to conquer the “Mazda Road to Indy” ladder and move up the ranks of professional open-wheel racing. The new relationship will provide Veach with product and technical support so he can record races and practice sessions with an array of RePlay XD1080 POV cameras, a perfect fit considering the XD1080s tiny size and light weight.
“It’s awesome to have a company like Replay XD on-board with me in the race car,” said Veach, who begins practice on Friday, Sept. 16 at 8:00 a.m. Pacific time for his final start of the 2011 season. “This company is so forward thinking and it’s cool to be right there apart of it with them. I’m excited to introduce them to INDYCAR racing!”
Veach, who has been profiled by CNN and ESPN The Magazine among others, has accomplished a stunning amount in 16 short years. He runs his own phone app building company, ZaAPP, and has released an anti-texting smartphone app to promote safe driving for teens. After starting his racing career in karts, Veach was asked to participate in the development ladder program sanctioned by the INDYCAR and just completed his USF2000 National Championship Series season fourth in points. He has been pulling double duty in 2011 and is also competing in select events in the Star Mazda Championship open-wheel series. His next race is September 18, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California.
Earlier this year, Veach took two race wins and three pole positions to capture the inaugural Cooper Tires presents the USF2000 Winterfest Championship and opened the season with a win from the pole position before going on to secure eight top-five finishes on his USF2000 season.
“We have been heavily involved in all types of motorsport competition for years, but announcing our involvement with a promising and hard-working young driver like Zach Veach is particularly exciting,” said Replay XD founder John Spar. “Zach is not only incredibly fast and a fantastic race car driver; he’s also a great role model. He’s a businessman, a racer and a fierce competitor. We can’t wait to show the world just how exciting open-wheel racing is through the lens of a Replay XD1080, and we know this is just the beginning of our relationship with Zach, he has a long, successful career ahead of him.”
Designed specifically for motorsport and action sport competition, the Replay XD1080 features a rugged aluminum housing for extreme adventures and is the smallest and lightest full HD action camera on the market. It is packed with pro-level audio, live uncompressed HDMI video out in full HD, video playback, external audio line-in, time-lapse photography, and highly-configurable image and camera settings. The system packs a crystal clear 135 degree field of view lens and 5-megapixel image sensor, and a wide variety of mounting options are available.
