Red Line Oil-sponsored MacDonald Motorsports Dodge Challenger NASCAR Nationwide Series Race Car goes Pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month
(Benicia, Calif.) October 8, 2010 - When NASCAR officials told the MacDonald Motorsports team that they had a hard time reading the numbers on their car while on track, team driver Michael McDowell had an idea - why not repaint the numbers in pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The MacDonald Motorsports team and its sponsor - Red Line Synthetic Oil - loved the idea, and the new color scheme was quickly adapted at Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Dollar General 300.
"We've been working with Michael and MacDonald Motorsports for reasons just like this, they have their heads and their hearts in the right place," said Cameron Evans, Director of Sales and Marketing for Red Line Oil. "Boy, do those numbers stand out! This car will make people think pink, that is certain."
Red Line will also make a donation the Expedition Inspiration Fund for Breast Cancer Research (www.expeditioninspiration.com), which supports project funding, public education, and patient support.
The MacDonald/Red Line team will campaign the bright pink numbered Dodge at the Dollar General 300 in Charlotte on October 15, followed by the O'Reilly Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway. McDowell has always taken the road less traveled, first by establishing himself on the international racing stage as the first Junior American to ever podium in an International Competition CIK-FIA sanctioned event. Since then he has won the Star Mazda Series pionts championship, spent time driving in ARCA, Grand Am, and currently in Sprint Cup as well. McDowell lives in the Charlotte-area with wife Jami and son Christopher.
