  • With temperatures around 25C until late October, Cyprus offers the perfect half-term break or romantic getaway with a wide selection of great value luxury packages
  • A new cycle route, from the coast to the heart of the Troodos Mountains opens this autumn

The nights may be drawing in at home, but with temperatures currently hovering around 30 degrees centigrade in Cyprus, autumn is the perfect time of year to escape the dreary weather for a sunshine break. As the Southern-most island in the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus still enjoys nine hours of sunlight per day throughout October and into early November, with average temperatures around 25C until late October.

With the summer holidays over, there are some great value luxury packages on offer at this time of year (see below). So, whether it’s a family looking for a half-term break along the stunning coastline, or a couple seeking a secluded agro-tourism retreat in the Troodos Mountains, Cyprus has something to offer everyone.

Looking for a beach break with a difference? Those wanting to combine a bit of sunshine with a stay along one of Cyprus’ 57 Blue Flag beaches – the island boasts more Blue Flag beaches per kilometre of coastline than anywhere else - can also take advantage of Cyprus’ exciting watersports scene, which includes waterskiing, parasailing and the chance to explore over 200 scuba diving sites.

The milder temperatures of spring and autumn also make this a great time of year to explore Cyprus’ rich heritage and beautiful rural landscape. Visitors can lose track of time visiting the numerous Greek, Roman and Byzantine sites, enjoy wine tastings across the island’s 40 boutique wineries (at 5,000 years-old, Cyprus’ viticulture tradition is one of the oldest in the world), as well as discover a world-class gourmet scene from contemporary eateries to the more traditional tavernas.

New for 2013:

2013 has been a busy year for Cyprus. Among other developments, the island is now home to four new dive sites – bringing the total number of sites to over 200. A new addition to the existing Troodos cycling routes is opening this autumn, starting from the centre of Limassol leading through picturesque villages into the mountains. The Limassol Marina welcomed its first berths and 2013 was also the year that Cyprus’ bathing waters were declared some of the cleanest in the Mediterranean.
