Hoitopaikanvalinta.fi now available also in Swedish and English
The www.hoitopaikanvalinta.fi online service can now be accessed in Swedish and English at www.vardenhetsval.fi and www.choosehealthcare.fi respectively.
Hoitopaikanvalinta.fi is an online resource of information on the rights of patients to choose their place of treatment. It offers information to patients about their rights and options when seeking healthcare in Finland and abroad and talks about costs, user fees and reimbursements that may be available. The site is produced by the Contact Point for Cross-Border Healthcare in cooperation with the National Institute for Health and Welfare, Kela, and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
Clear and accessible overview of the right of patients to choose their place of treatment
Originally opened in Finnish at the end of September 2015, the site is now being expanded to offer the same content in Swedish and English. According to Noora Heinonen, head of the Contact Point for Cross-Border Healthcare, the goal is to give users clear and easy access to the information they need. She hopes that with the wider variety of languages available, more customers will discover the site and take advantage of the information it contains.
A wider range of languages
The full content of the hoitopaikanvalinta.fi site is now available in Finnish, Swedish and English. A version of the site in plain Finnish will become available later this year. The information content will also be translated into sign language and released as videos. The range of languages will be expanded further to cover other languages that are widely spoken in Finland.
