Business Finland has granted Keliber Technology Oy a maximum grant of 708 000 euros as part of the funding granted to the BATCircle 2.0 consortium, which consists of research organisations and companies. Keliber is one of the actors contributing to the Finnish battery strategy and the development of a sustainable battery metals ecosystem. The consortium promotes environmental and circular economy projects, with the goal of sustainable utilisation of materials as well as a high rate of recycling.

During the BATCircle 2.0 project, Keliber will concentrate on developing its exploration methods and production process in order to guarantee environmentally friendly and cost-conscious operations, and a high-quality end-product. In addition, the use of recycled lithium as a raw material will be studied. BATCircle 2.0 is carried out 1 January 2021–31 December 2023. The funds granted by Business Finland cover 40 per cent of the total financing.

“We are very pleased with the funding decision, which supports Keliber’s project and the development of circular economy solutions," says CEO Hannu Hautala.

Keliber also participated in the first phase of BATCircle, which ended in April 2021. R&D Manager Pekka Tanskanen is particularly happy about the cooperation opportunities provided by the consortium. Cooperation with several research organisations will now continue.
