Keliber Progress Report April-June 2022

Keliber has today, 22 July 2022, published the Progress Report of the Lithium Project in April-June 2022. During the spring and early summer, Keliber managed to achieve several of its goals. Q2 in Brief:

  • No recordable injuries. “Safety first” meetings in cooperation with contractors began.
  • Funding for the Keliber Project secured - Sibanye-Stillwater to become the majority owner.
  • The lithium chemical plant was granted the environmental permit, including the right to start operations despite possible appeals. The building permit was granted in April.
  • Zoning of Keliber’s main mining areas and the Päiväneva concentrator area became legally valid.
  • The building permit for the Päiväneva concentrator was granted.
  • Keliber’s Mineral Resources increased by 9%, thanks to the new lithium deposit Tuoreetsaaret.
  • At the Syväjärvi mine area, the first blast to extract material necessary for road construction was conducted. See the video!
  • Around 200 contractors, subcontractors and service providers gathered to discuss Keliber´s procurement needs.
  • Battery-grade lithium hydroxide monohydrate was produced in a test programme based on ore from Keliber’s largest lithium deposit, Rapasaari.
  • The Annual General Meeting on 27 April 2022 reelected the current members of the Board.
