A British motor industry awarding body based in Hertfordshire is working with a major automotive importer from Saudi Arabia to become the first approved centre in the Middle East.

IMI Awards is a specialist awarding body based in the UK offering a wide range of qualifications in the automotive and related engineering industries.  The company will be working with Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors based in Jeddah to help them become the first IMI Awards Approved Centre in the Saudi Arabia.

As an approved centre, the company will be able to train their own staff, embarking on an ambitious training programme for future technicians within the company and other likeminded organisations who wish to use the training centre for their employees.

Earlier in the year, representatives from Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors and IMI Awards attended an official ceremony at the IMI Awards headquarters in Brickendon for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which is a mutual nondisclosure agreement between the two organisations.

Speaking at the event, Khaled Alwassia, National Training and Technical Manager at Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors said; “Being an IMI Member, it was a very exciting to be at the epicentre of the most recognised Automotive Accreditation Body. Being part of the team which will bring this expertise to Saudi Arabia to train the next generation of technicians is very energising. The IMI Awards team has been very supportive in assisting us to work through the award requirements to gain IMI Awards Centre approval.”

Sheikh Mohamed Yousuf Naghi, Chairman and CEO of the Yousuf Naghi Group, said he is very proud that his organisation was chosen to represent the IMI and that he is looking forward to attending the official opening ceremony.

“Over the next few months, we will support Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors in the development and approval of their centre. We are looking forward to working closely with the team for many years to come and expanding the centres throughout the Kingdom,” said Malcolm Hairsine, IMI Awards Business Development Manager.
