Richard Sunderland has been appointed as Managing Director of J&H Bunn Ltd. The former head of Cargill’s UK fertiliser business, Richard returns home after fifteen years in senior roles in the Cargill group.

The Yorkshireman is looking forward to growing the Bunn business, which was acquired by Koch Fertiliser Ltd, a year ago.

“It’s fun being back in the UK, in a market that I know well, and it’s nice to see old friends in the business,” says Mr Sunderland. “I think the global experience that I have picked up should be valuable to Bunn’s growth. Koch’s global resources with Bunn’s 195 years of on-farm service and knowledge are a powerful combination. We have the ability to provide our customers with the solutions, innovation and knowledge they demand.”

Bunn employs 170 people at eight locations stretching from Montrose in Scotland to Falmouth in Cornwall. Norfolk-based, it ships and blends a wide-variety of fertilisers for farmers and wholesale customers across Britain, and has driven a number of innovations in the industry over the years.

Mr Sunderland believes Bunn is uniquely positioned to serve the British market. “With our low-cost distribution network and broad portfolio of products, including fertiliser straights, blends, liquid and value-added products as well as spreading and haulage services, Bunn can add real value for the grower. I’m excited to lead an organisation that will be a leader and innovator in this market. ”
