Vet-Produkt to distribute Anitox feed safety and milling efficiency products in Hungary

Vet-Produkt Kft., a leading provider of animal health products in Hungary, has been appointed to distribute and support the world-class Anitox range of feed safety and milling efficiency solutions.

The agreement with Anitox Corporation will enable Hungary’s livestock producers and feed manufacturers to benefit from world-class products and technologies developed and manufactured by a company which now supplies most of the world’s leading feed manufacturers and livestock producers. Initially, Vet-Produkt will focus on increasing customer awareness of Termin-8®, the Anitox pathogen control programme for finished feed and raw materials, together with its Maxi-Mil® milling efficiency programme.

Termin-8® provides effective control of gram-negative bacteria such as Salmonella and E.coli, gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Streptococcus, together with spore-forming bacteria such as Clostridium, in feed and feed ingredients. Termin-8® also provides long-term protection of feed against recontamination while it is in the mill, during transport or on the farm, for up to 21 days, a claim which has been verified by The United States Food and Drug Administration (USFDA). Every year more than 30 million tonnes of feed and raw materials are treated with Termin-8® to ensure that they are pathogen-free.

Maxi-Mil® allows manufacturers of pelleted feeds to reduce shrink/process loss, lower press energy use, increase pellet durability, reduce fines, enhance digestibility, reduce die and roll wear and optimise their carbon footprint,. Extensive field trials in more than 50 countries have proven that Maxi-Mil® substantially reduces shrink/process losses and pellet press energy (kWh/t) use, cuts die and roll costs by 36% and improves pellet durability by 3%.

Based in Babolna, a historic town with strong links to the agricultural industry, Vet-Produkt was established by poultry specialist Dr Csaba Vécsei who learned about Anitox Termin-8® in 2010 and immediately recognised its potential to help the country’s feed manufacturers and livestock producers meet increasingly stringent feed and food hygiene standards. Vet-Produkt signed a distribution agreement with Anitox in December 2011, soon after Termin-8® was officially approved by the authorities in Hungary.

Dr Vécsei states: “Vet-Produkt is well established and highly regarded in the swine, poultry, cattle and feed manufacturing sectors, so this is a very exciting opportunity and we look forward to working with Anitox for a very long time to come. Our business strategy is based on developing close, long-term working partnerships with manufacturers of high-quality products and offering them to our customers in combination with a high level of technical expertise to enable them to increase productivity and profitability.

“Our Technical Specialists are in daily contact with Hungary’s leading farms, vets, integrators, feed and premix producers. To maintain the high standards for which we have become known we will further expand our technical capability during 2012 by taking on additional highly-qualified staff.

“Feed manufacturers and livestock producers in Hungary are having to adopt a more stringent approach to feed and food safety as a result of increasing legislation from the European Union as well as consumer pressure to reduce the use of antibiotics. Additionally, leading international retail food businesses are setting very high standards of food safety/hygiene and meeting their requirements is a priority.

“Reducing Salmonella in feed will be a key element in achieving these more stringent targets, which is why Termin-8® has significant potential, while Maxi-Mil® offers considerable benefits for our feed manufacturers. Hungary has about 60 large and medium size mills, and although many are new facilities or have benefited from significant investment to improve quality and output, they are all potential customers. Many of them currently use some form of heat treatment to help control pathogens, but increasing fuel/power costs together with problems of damage to vitamins/minerals in the feed are forcing them to identify more effective, cost-efficient and longer-term alternatives. They can benefit significantly from using Termin-8® to treat feed/raw materials and Maxi-Mil® to increase mill throughput, improve pellet quality and reduce pellet press electricity costs.”

Roger Mann, Regional Director for Anitox in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific, commented:

We are delighted to be working with Vet-Produkt and believe that its customers will benefit significantly from our industry-leading products and technical expertise. Anitox has 35 years experience in antimicrobial and mould-control technology in finished livestock feeds and the raw materials used to produce them. We are now at the forefront of the industry in terms of supplying products which provide safe feed to protect the health of livestock and consumers. Anitox is ISO 9001:12000 and GMP+ Certified. Each year more than 30 million tonnes of feed and raw materials are treated with Termin-8® to ensure that they are pathogen-free, while many leading feed manufacturers all over the world use Maxi-Mil® to improve the efficiency of their milling operations.

“Increasingly-stringent food safety legislation and greater consumer pressure for safer food has substantially increased demand for our products from the feed milling and primary meat, egg and fish production industries. We now have a strong pipeline of new products that are at the cutting-edge of technology coming through our Research & Development programme, which will further increase the volume of business in existing markets and take us into new areas. They will be essential in helping livestock producers, feed manufacturers and food producers to meet future demands and challenges.”
