KlaraBo adopts new sustainability goals

KlaraBo revises and adopts new sustainability goals in line with the Paris Agreements and UN’s global goals for sustainable development. The new goals also include social responsibility and corporate governance. The initiative is part of KlaraBos greater sustainability strategy.

During the fall, KlaraBo has begun mapping out the impact its operations have on the outside world from an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) perspective. KlaraBo’s board has adopted and approved five sustainability areas which include:

  • Climate and energy
  • Circular society
  • Safe and attractive neighbourhoods
  • Employees
  • Sustainable business

”In late summer, we began extensive work to develop our sustainability goals, which since the beginning have served as a cornerstone of KlaraBo’s operations. The work has meant that we have identified our most important sustainability issues, our goals connected to each respective area as well as how we can measure the outcomes effectively. We are pleased to have taken this step and that the sustainability aspects of our business model are made even more visible”, says Andreas Morfiadakis, CEO.

The new goals concern, among other things, how KlaraBo can work to increase safety in the residential quarters, strengthen the sense of belonging by offering summer jobs to the residents, and collaborate even more with local associations. Linked to corporate governance, KlaraBo will, among other things, establish a new code of conduct for suppliers. The environmental goals include a long-term goal of climate neutrality in the entire value chain by 2045 and more focus on reuse during renovation.

“It feels very positive that the board has adopted and approved our new sustainability goals. We have done a lot of work with the mapping, where expectations of KlaraBo have been captured from a range of counterparties such as tenants, employees, and the Tenants Association (Hyresgästföreningen). We are convinced that the work with the sustainability goals will lead to increased attractiveness to a broader group for our homes as well as for KlaraBo as a workplace”, says Kristin Lindmark, Interim Sustainability Manager at KlaraBo.

The initiative is part of KlaraBo’s greater sustainability strategy where the Company earlier this year recruited an Interim Sustainability Manager and joined LFM30, Malmö’s local roadmap for a climate neutral-neutral construction sector by 2030 at the latest.

The new goals will be presented in the interim report for the fourth quarter.
