KMT’s subsidiary Herber Industri AB has received its first order for a new developed, entirely electric tube forming machine within the heaviest machine segment. The order, which comes from a supplier in the heavy vehicle industry, consists of a machine capable of forming tubes with dimensions up to 150 mm and with material thicknesses of up to 3 mm.

For Herber, this order represents an important step in the on-going renewal of the product range of totally electric machines. ”The order is a result of a long-term and focussed development process and a confirmation of Herbers competitive strength within electric tube forming machines. With the new machine we have expanded our product range of completely electrical machines to the heaviest machine segment”, says Thomas Petersson, President of Herber. Delivery of the machine, which weighs over 20 tonnes and is equipped with a Windows XP-based CNC-control system developed by Herber and Bosch Rexroth, will take place in December 2006. Herber Industri AB, which forms part of KMT’s Sheet Metal Working area, is specialised in development and manufacturing of advanced, fully automatic and CNC-controlled production machines for cold-forming of tubes and profiles. The machines are intended for tube dimensions between 5 and 150 mm.
