KMT subsidiary Ursvikens Mekaniska Verkstads AB has secured its largest order to date. The value of the order exceeds SEK 65 M, slightly more than half of the 2004 turnover.

The customer is a German group, which is now placing its first order from Ursviken. The ordered machine consists of two tandem connected press brakes of each 5,000-ton pressing power and a length of 6,5 m. Total pressing power amounts to 10,000-ton with a maximum press-length of 13 m. The machine will bend stainless material of up to 60 millimeters in thickness and is equipped with CNC-controlled variable tools, designed in-house at Ursviken, as well as solutions for material handling and tool changes. The value of the order will be reported in order bookings for the second quarter, while delivery of the press brake is planned for the second half of 2006. “The order, which is our largest to date, is the result of focused, long-term efforts to identify the best conceivable solution for the customer’s needs. This is a major prestige order, which we managed to secure in intense competition with several leading suppliers of large-scale press brakes,” says Tomas Johansson, President of Ursviken. Ursviken has during the month of June also received an additional order on machines from the world’s largest manufacturer of heavy commercial vehicles in USA. Ursviken, which forms part of KMT’s Sheet Metal Working area, develops, manufactures and markets advanced press brakes and systems solutions for the processing of sheet metal working in different dimensions. The product program is particularly targeted at advanced users who require the highest precision, high repetition accuracy and rapid, efficient resets. The service market forms an important part of operations. Ursviken has about 70 employees and generated sales of approximately SEK 120 M during 2004.
