Kockums and BTH launch new joint project Joint leap forward in netcentric defence technology Kockums AB (KAB) and Blekinge Tekniska Högskola (BTH/Blekinge Institute of Technology) have today launched a joint advanced-technology project focused on developing services and capabilities for the new netcentric defence concept. Kockums' CEO Martin Hagbyhn and Rector Lars Haikola, Blekinge Tekniska Högskola, signed a cooperation agreement at Kockums in Karlskrona on Thursday May 13th 2004. In the longer term, the agreement will enable Kockums to offer the extremely advanced services demanded by a modern rapid-reaction defence force. In the defence force of the future, personnel, ships, sensors and rapid reaction resources will need to be integrated into a flexible network to create the appropriate capabilities. Increasingly, organisations with responsibility for key functions within society will be coordinating their respective capabilities within the framework of this type of network. The fact that BTH and KAB are both already engaged in highly advanced research and development in this field ensures that the joint project will involve a significant technical advance. The project will be led by Development Director Pär Dahlander (KAB) and Professor Rune Gustavsson (BTH). Jens-Olof Lindh (KAB) and Martin Fredriksson (BTH) will be jointly responsible for technical project management. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For further information, please contact Kockums' Information Department: Kjell Göthe, +46 (0)455 - 68 38 88 (direct) or +46 (0)734 - 34 28 88 (cellphone), or Katarina Ketzénius, +46 (0)455 - 68 34 68 (direct) or +46 (0)734 - 34 24 68 (cellphone). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ------------------------------------------------------------ This information was brought to you by Waymaker http://www.waymaker.net The following files are available for download: http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2004/05/13/20040513BIT21250/wkr0009.pdf http://www.waymaker.net/bitonline/2004/05/13/20040513BIT21250/bild.html Pictures
