Kruger Self-Drive demonstrates just how accessible the African bush can be to all, and how easy it is to drive yourself on a holiday of a lifetime while watching (and photographing!) some of the most amazing animals and birds on the planet.

Kruger Self-Drive: Routes, Roads & Ratings   £29 Hardcover; 280 x 221 mm; 288 pages, all in colour; hundreds of photos, maps, charts, routes, wildlife guides, places to stay & eat; by Heinrich van den Berg; published by HPH Publishing.

This richly illustrated book fills a huge gap for those majority of visitors to Kruger who hire a car to get the most of their stay at the game reserve.

It offers a wide range of information on animals, birds, rainfall, landscapes and underlying soil and rock, creating the knowledge needed to get the very best out of a visit. Innumerable routes are introduced, fully supported by maps, photos of the local flora and fauna and information on how and where to spot. In addition to the general introduction and advice offered, each section of a route is rated according to the type of creature likely to be observed and the likelihood of observation; distances and traversal times are always present, and the availability of hides, rest and picnic spots and overnight facilities are also there.

Available from February 20th, 2016.
