Antibacterial Treatment: A Game-Changer in Periodontitis Management
The latest results from Europe’s largest randomized periodontitis study (HOPE-CP) confirm that integrating antibacterial Lumoral therapy into standard dental care delivers remarkable improvements in oral health and professional treatment outcomes.
Six-month findings reveal that Lumoral users experienced significantly better oral hygiene, reduced gum inflammation, and fewer deep periodontal pockets. These compelling results reinforce Lumoral as a powerful adjunct therapy, helping dentists achieve superior clinical outcomes in managing periodontitis.
By harnessing advanced antibacterial photodynamic technology, Lumoral sets a new benchmark in oral health, offering patients a more effective way to maintain healthier gums and enhance the success of professional dental treatments.
Impressive Three-Month Results:
- After three months, Lumoral treatment showed a significant effect. More than half (54%) of the patients using Lumoral at home reached gum health (BOP<10%). Regular use of Lumoral at home reduced gum inflammation and improved oral hygiene. It also reduced deep pockets, multiplying the effectiveness of the professional non-surgical periodontal treatment. The results are consistent with the experience of thousands of Lumoral users and dentists.
Even More Compelling Six-Month Results:
- The six-month follow-up benefits become even more pronounced, particularly for periodontitis patients:
- The study showed that antibacterial Lumoral® treatment as an adjunct to periodontal therapy significantly reduced bleeding on probing (BOP) in the experimental group compared to those receiving standard treatment alone (p=0.0014).
- Plaque levels were statistically significantly lower (p=0.0045) in the Lumoral treatment group than in the control group.
- A stunning 56% of the experimental group reached a BOP target of less than 10%, compared to only 26% in the control group. The difference was statistically significant (p=0.0057).
Saila Pakarinen, dental hygienist and lead expert in the study, shared her excitement about the results: "The HOPE-CP study has exceeded expectations. The experimental group showed remarkable improvements in oral hygiene and a significant reduction in gum disease symptoms compared to the control group. Lumoral is proving to be an invaluable tool in the management of periodontitis, offering patients an effective and innovative approach to oral health."
Consistent and Remarkable Improvements: The results highlight the consistent and powerful impact of Lumoral. Both groups showed improvements in oral hygiene and a reduction in gum disease symptoms, but the experimental group, using Lumoral treatment, saw faster and more pronounced results.
Study Details:
- The study involved 105 participants, with 51 in the experimental group and 49 in the control group. The Lumoral group showed substantially greater improvement, reaffirming the treatment's superior effectiveness.
A Fruitful Collaboration: The study was conducted in partnership with Koite Health and Metropolia University of Applied Sciences. Pakarinen expressed her gratitude for the collaboration, noting, "This partnership has been invaluable in advancing both research and education. It’s been rewarding for students to be part of this important work, and I am hopeful that it will inspire further interest in oral health research."
