KONE Corporation, press release, December 7, 2012
KONE has won an order to deliver 45 eco-efficient elevators for the terminal expansion project at Oslo Airport in Norway. KONE's People Flow® solutions will help ensure that the growing number of annual passengers will reach their gates smoothly and on time.
The order includes 25 KONE MonoSpace® Special and 13 KONE TranSys freight elevators, four platform elevators and one new KONE MonoSpace® 500. Two existing elevators will be modernized to match the eco-efficiency and design of the new equipment.
"We are happy to contribute to the smooth operation of Oslo Airport. This agreement is a continuation of our service partnership and further strengthens our relationship with them," says Ari Lehtoranta, EVP and Area Director of KONE Central and North Europe.
Oslo Airport is Norway's main airport and services over 21 million passengers yearly. Oslo Airport has been named Europe's most punctual airport four times by the Association of European Airlines (AEA).
Installation of the equipment is scheduled to begin in 2014. They will be fully operational once the terminal opens to the public in 2017. The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2012.
