KONE Corporation, press release, July 18, 2024

KONE Corporation, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order to supply 31 elevators and three escalators for the 2 Finsbury Avenue (2FA) high-rise project at Broadgate – the largest pedestrianized neighborhood in the City of London.

2FA by British Land is an office-led, mixed-use development consisting of the 36-story East Tower and the West Tower at 21-stories, linked by a central 12-story podium. The project will create a new benchmark for highly sustainable workspace in central London with BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum, EPC A and NABERS 5-star ratings. It will be all-electric, and a smart-enabled development ensuring leading carbon and energy efficiency in operation.

“KONE has long-standing experience in supplying elevators to high-rise office buildings in London,” says Nicolas Alchal, Executive Vice President of KONE Europe. “We’re truly honored to be supplying an iconic landmark with our people flow solutions and look forward to working with British Land on delivering a smart-enabled, high-quality and sustainable workplace at 2 Finsbury Avenue in Central London.”

2FA is part of British Land and GIC’s ongoing Broadgate vision to create a world-class, seven days a week, mixed-use destination. The high-rise is currently under construction, with completion expected in 2027.

The order comprises 19 KONE MiniSpace™ elevators and 12 KONE MonoSpace ® 700 elevators, designed to optimize usable space within the building and minimize waiting times. KONE will also deliver three energy-efficient KONE TravelMaster™ 110 escalators. Smart building and digital features at 2FA will be further enhanced by the KONE Office Flow solution, while the KONE E-Link™ monitoring solution will give visibility into all elevator operations.

The developer of 2FA is a joint venture between British Land and GIC, and the main contractor is Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd. The architectural design has been produced by 3XN London Ltd with whom KONE collaborated to design custom car finishes for the 26 passenger elevators creating a unique user experience.

KONE booked the order in Q2 of 2024.
