The Electric Components Manufacturing Center for Konecranes has expanded to a new location to better serve its customers.

The Electric Components Manufacturing Center for Konecranes has expanded from 23,000 square feet split between two buildings to 47,000 square feet under one roof.

“One of our biggest challenges was the lack of space in our facility, which was exemplified by the reality that we were operating out of two separate buildings,” said Carl Walters, Vice President/General Manager, Konecranes, Electric Components Manufacturing Center.

Not only will the new facility allow for safer operations and more efficient production, it will allow Konecranes to offer a broader product offering and improve production time as it continues to grow.

The new facility will house two 15-ton overhead cranes and 7,500 square feet of office space. It is located just 12 miles North of the previous facility, which was located in Gurnee, Ill.

Konecranes considered multiple locations before choosing southeastern Wis. Milwaukee’s assets – workforce, location, educational system, and infrastructure – directly support manufacturing. Manufacturing is the largest and most valued economic sector in the area.

“We are pleased that Konecranes has relocated its Gurnee operation to southeastern Wisconsin,” said Jim Paetsch, Vice President of the Milwaukee 7 regional economic development group. “Konecranes’ decision is further testament that our regional assets uniquely support global manufacturers.”
