In April 2009, Konecranes received an order for 16 process cranes from China
Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC), the EPC contractor for the Sino Iron ore
project at Cape Preston in Western Australia. The Sino Iron project is owned
and managed by China based company CITIC Pacific Mining. The cranes will be
delivered in January 2010. The parties have agreed not to disclose the value of
the order.

Sino Iron is a magnetite iron ore project under construction in Western
Australia. Once operational, it will be Australia's largest magnetite mining
and processing operation, and one of the world's largest mines. It will process
and produce 27.6 million tons a year of a mix of magnetite iron ore pellets and
concentrate, which will be exported from Australia to China.

The 16 electrical Konecranes overhead cranes will be used in the construction
of the mine's processing plant. When this is ready, the cranes will be used in
servicing and maintaining the equipment at the plant. The cranes have a lifting
capacity in the range of 5 to 125 tons and spans of 27 to 43 meters.

“Konecranes' strength in this project was its global coverage with a strong
local presence,” says Fredrik Petäjävaara, Process Crane and Modernization
Manager, Konecranes Pty Ltd. “The cranes will be made and tested in China and
then shipped to Australia. As our customer is based in China, they will be able
to follow the manufacturing very closely.”
