Konecranes delivers Turkey's first electrically-fed RTGs
In July 2010 Konecranes received its second RTG order from Turkey this year.
The order is for five electrically-fed RTG (rubber tired gantry) cranes to be
delivered to port operator NEMPORT in Nemrut, Aliaga Bay, Turkey. These
Konecranes RTGs will be the first electrically-fed, eco-efficient RTGs to be
operated in Turkey. Delivery is scheduled for March 2011. The parties have
agreed not to disclose the value of the order.

Konecranes' electrically-fed RTGs, equipped with cable reels, reduce local
emissions by up to 95 per cent: the cranes run on electricity from the local
grid, not from a diesel generator. They do not use hydraulics.

NEMPORT is a forward-thinking port operator that emphasizes eco-efficient
technology in its operations at its new container terminal in Nemrut Aliaga
bay, located close to the Izmir area. The new terminal, also called NEMPORT
(Liman Isletmeleri & Özel Antrepo Nakliye Tic. A.S.) will handle import and
export traffic for the domestic Turkish market and local industry.

NEMPORT selected Konecranes as its RTG provider due to the eco-efficiency,
reliability and quality of the solution as well as Konecranes' excellent
reputation in the container terminal business and strong references worldwide.

“This is a very important breakthrough for Konecranes: it's our second delivery
to Turkey this year and the first ever electrically-fed RTGs in Turkey.
Furthermore, it expands our electrically-fed RTG fleet in Europe to 20 units,”
says Kim Salvén, Sales Manager, Port cranes, Konecranes. “This order is
evidence that NEMPORT appreciates the eco-efficiency and performance of our
RTGs and overall offering for container terminals, as well as our good
reputation.”

The RTG cranes in this delivery have a lifting capacity of 40 tons. They can
stack one-over-6 containers high and seven plus truck lane wide.
