Konecranes wins its largest container crane orders from Russia

In October 2007, Konecranes has received orders for five ship-to-shore (STS)
cranes and fourteen rubber tired gantry (RTG) cranes to three container
terminals of National Container Company (NCC) in Russia. The cranes will be
delivered to NCC's subsidiaries First Container Terminal (FCT) in St.
Petersburg, Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Ust-Luga and the inland terminal
Shushary. The total value of the orders is over EUR 40 million.

The procurement of container handling equipment is part of NCC's terminal
expansion and development plan. The ordered equipment will increase throughput
capacity of the existing terminals and improve productivity. Konecranes will
deliver one STS crane and ten RTGs to FCT in St. Petersburg, four STS cranes to
BCT's greenfield container terminal in Ust-Luga and four RTGs to the inland
container terminal in Shushary, located in the St. Petersburg region. Delivery
will take place during 2008 and 2009.

The STS cranes will be used for loading and unloading Panamax container
vessels, they have a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes and an outreach of 40 and 38
meters respectively. The RTG cranes have a lifting capacity of 50 tonnes, they
can stack one over five containers high and seven containers wide plus a truck
lane.

“These orders further strengthen Konecranes' position in the ports of St.
Petersburg, and display the customers' confidence in our performance and
products,” says Jarmo Juntunen, Director, Ports at Konecranes.

In 2006 and earlier in 2007, NCC ordered four STS cranes to FCT's container
terminal in St. Petersburg, two of which Konecranes will deliver at the end of
2007 and two in 2008. The cooperation with the terminal in St. Petersburg
started already in the 1980s and it has included cranes, crane modernizations
and service.
