(Kongsberg, 29.11 2005) Today, Kongsberg Automotive (KA) announced that they have signed an agreement with a major American OEM (original equipment manufacturer) to supply folding safety head restraints for an upcoming new vehicle. - This is a major award for Kongsberg Automotive, says CEO Olav Volldal, and it proves that our safety products pioneered in Europe are making a break through in North America. The new programme is expected to generate USD 7 million in sales per year within 2008. The production is planned to find place in Kongsberg Automotive`s North-American unit located in Milan, Tennessee. The Milan plant was acquired by Kongsberg Automotive in June this year, and has already secured new orders adding 30% to future sales revenue. - I am very pleased with the response in the US market, since obtaining the Milan plant. These six months have exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to the future projects in North- America, says Volldal. This acquisition was part of KA`s strategy to expand the head restraint activity globally. KA is today supplying the European market with head restraints meeting the highest demands on safety and functionality. Currently, the KA Milan plant manufactures head restraints and armrests for the domestic US seat manufacturers. The plant is also preparing launch of a new head restraint program recently awarded by an Asian OEM. The KA Milan capacity today is 15 million parts per year, and offers over 5000 square meters of available floor space for future growth.
