Kongsberg Automotive (KA) has developed and agreed the delivery of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) on a key Powersport OEM Utility Vehicle platform, as part of an existing agreement with an expected lifetime turnover value of over MEUR 30.

This is a first KA application of EPS on this type of off-road vehicle; a new product that leverages expertise developed over the years in both motorcycle and ATV applications.

“The KA EPS is the only EPS in Powersports with a unique torque sensor,” says Luc St. Pierre, Key Account/Product Manager.

The system also features advanced electronics and software that allows smart and adaptive features to handle various driving conditions and desired dynamics.

“This is a key win for KA because we are supplying a major component into the fastest growing segment of the powersports market,” says Adrian Baker, VP Global Sales & Marketing.

Start of production is scheduled for Q2 2012.
