Kongsberg Automotive awarded contract worth EUR 27.2 million estimated lifetime revenue
Kongsberg Automotive’s Powertrain and Chassis (P&C) has won a transmission controls contract worth EUR 27.2 million estimated lifetime revenue, and average annual revenue of EUR 3.4 million.
The secured contract is for Kongsberg Automotive Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) Shifter and the MT Cable Shifter. Designed for truck and bus applications, the MT Cable Shifter uses mechanical cables to connect the shifter to the transmission, and the AMT Shifter uses shift-by-wire technology.
Both products will be supplied to a leading original equipment manufacturer (OEM) based in North China. Kongsberg Automotive is the top producer of AMT shifters in the Chinese truck and bus market.
Production starts in 2022 from the Kongsberg Automotive Morse Shanghai (KAMS) facility. “This contract with one of the largest truck OEMs in Asia will provide a good growth platform for our KAMS joint venture in the heavy-duty truck & bus segment. We are aggressively following this rapid market transition into the AMT segment,” says Bob Riedford, President of P&C.
