Kongsberg Automotive (KA) Interior business area has been awarded a major contract for Seat Comfort Systems to one of the world’s premier brand, located in Europe. The new systems are for the European market.

The new contract is based on KA’s next generation of Modular Seat Comfort, which is a KA unique design to provide the most comfortable and relaxing ride for drivers and passengers.

The new design includes a complete programmable system with lumbar support, side support and massage. This innovative system is based on pneumatic building blocks, which consists of a modular structure of air cells that allows more functionality, thinner seat structures and reduced system weight.

“We are very exited about this award”, says Hans Peter Havdal, CEO of Kongsberg Automotive. “The new system has been developed in close cooperation with our customer over the past two years. It proves our capability to innovate and deliver competitive products. The award is an important step towards further growth within seat comfort and it is the second contract this year on the new modular system. We look forward to introducing this unique product to additional clients and segments going forward!”.

The massage system stimulates blood circulation, which in turn relives stress and keep you more alert during driving and more fit at arrival. “We believe that the combination of new technical features and enhanced driver comfort and safety will be highly welcomed in the market” says Espen Moe, Interior Sales and Marketing Director in an earlier statement

The order value is estimated to be €33 million, and production will be from our European plants. Production will start in 2012.
