Kongsberg Automotive’s (KA) Interior business area has been awarded two new contracts in the North American market. One is for an electro-mechanical seat release actuator which will be used on a premier German vehicle built in North America. The actuator is used to access the 3rd row seats and for expanding the luggage compartment. The second win is for a pneumatic lumbar system with one of the leading American OEMs.

Production will be in KA’s facilities in Matamoros and Reynosa, Mexico. Both contracts have a five year span and start of production will be progressively from Q2 2012. The total lifetime value of both contracts is 10.5 MEUR (81 MNOK).

“The pneumatic lumbar business is really taking off in North America. Seats need to be more compact and lighter and this makes our pneumatic lumbar a perfect fit”, says Scott Paquette, Executive Vice President for KA Interior business area.
