STRATEGIC BREAKTHROUGH IN NORTH AMERICA: NEW CONTRACT TO TRUCK MANUFACTURER WORTH MEUR 35
One of the biggest truck manufacturers in North America has chosen Kongsberg Automotive as a supplier for a complete clutch actuation system. The contract is worth MEUR 35 and will run over 5 years with a start of production in 2012. Kongsberg Automotive is global leader for clutch actuation systems and offers complete solutions which can easily and quickly be fitted on the truck driveline. North American trucks have so far, not used servo assistance in their clutch actuation systems. This is definitely a strategic breakthrough in this geographic market for Kongsberg which is a specialist within clutch servo assistance.
”We are a leading actor within clutch actuation and North America is the only market which has not used servo assistance significantly. This breakthrough opens a market with a potential of being as big as the Western European market. We are expecting that the demand for servo assistance for clutch actuation systems in the North American market will increase in the future” says a very optimistic Håkon Amundsen, VP Sales & marketing for the Bus and Truck market in Kongsberg Automotive.
”Our clutch actuation system is giving the driver an optimal system for an accurate and comfortable gear shift feeling with a low pedal effort adapted to specific engines and gearboxes. Our system is based on proprietary technology where different systems are built up through combination of standard components” says Amundsen.

Outside Europe we already have ensured a strong position in Asia and South America.
