FRIMO North America Announces Expansion in Plastics Welding
March 1st “Lunch & Learn” event featured technical plastics welding presentations and more
FRIMO, one of the leading developers and suppliers of system solutions for manufacturing high quality plastic components, successfully hosted a plastics welding “Lunch & Learn” for its customers on March 1 near Detroit.
The casual event offered attendees the opportunity to receive a market overview and learn more about infrared, ultrasonic, hot plate, and heat stake welding. Guests were encouraged to ask questions along the way, which sparked some great discussions. FRIMO’s Global Head of Welding Technology, Detlev Boel, attended the luncheon to mingle with visitors and answer technical questions. Jeff Daily, President of FRIMO’s operations in North America and Tobias Kruemberg, Head of FRIMO North America Plastics Welding and Sales Director at FRIMO Mexico, as well as other FRIMO welding experts gave presentations focused on:
- The overall market and comparison of welding processes;
- Trends in material development and weldability of high-performance plastics;
- Use of different emitter technologies;
- Tooling & machinery: references and future potentials;
- Control systems for high-quality welding results; and
- Research and development news.
Ultrasonic welding technology was one of the main focuses of the luncheon, as FRIMO recently started designing and building ultrasonic welding equipment in North America. Previously, all design and build work for ultrasonic welding took place at FRIMO Hamburg in Germany. FRIMO decided to expand its welding capabilities in North America to keep up with the increasing demand for ultrasonic welding solutions.
In addition, FRIMO is expanding its local IR, hot plate, and heat stake welding capabilities in engineering, manufacturing and service. The latest developments and trends in these fields were also presented.
Looking back at the event, Tobias Kruemberg commented, “The FRIMO North America solution for simple ultrasonic welding operations includes manual movable table machines and robotic solutions, combining reliable technology with increased cost efficiency. This approach was well received by attendees and opens the market of additional applications for FRIMO Plastic Welding Technology in NA.”
FRIMO North America has a dedicated sales team in the United States and Mexico, an expansive TechCenter, and the ability to produce prototypes locally in Wixom, MI. Their presence in both the US and Mexico makes quick reaction times possible for customers, with service technicians located in Michigan and South Carolina in the United States and in Puebla in Mexico. The FRIMO Mexico manufacturing facility offers the advantage of attractive prices for machines and tools in North America.
