The Future of Sustainable Packaging: FlexPaper and PrimePaper by Felix Schoeller
Specialty paper manufacturer presents flexible, recyclable solutions for the future at FACHPACK 2024
Developing paper for sustainable solutions that make life better. This is what Felix Schoeller stands for with its brand promise PAPER MADE FOR LIFE. Therefore, the specialty paper manufacturer is also breaking new ground in packaging with recyclable FlexPaper and PrimePaper – without any compromise on flexibility, printability and high-quality coating. Visitors of FACHPACK will be able to experience the benefits of the innovative product portfolio live at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg from the 24th to 26th of September 2024. Felix Schoeller will be presenting recyclable barrier paper at the stand 234 in Hall 4A.
“We are thinking further in terms of producing paper, consistently pursuing our strategy of moving away from plastic and focusing on our main raw material, paper, and showing that PAPER MADE FOR LIFE is not just lip service”, says Andreas Bergmeier, Sales and Product Senior Manager Packaging. “As a partner for high-quality, customised paper solutions and technology leader for barrier coatings, it is rather an expression of an honest striving for packaging with real added value for our customers.”
This has been realised in the packaging sector with a diverse, market-ready product portfolio that has been created with the help of in-house development teams, product experts and valuable feedback from test customers. With the FSC®-certified specialty papers PrimePaper and the barrier paper FlexPaper with up to 95% paper and certified recyclability according to Cepi 4evergreen, Felix Schoeller can already replace many types of packaging and thus make a contribution to reducing plastics in the value chain. Our papers can be used on standard packaging machines and are suitable for direct food contact.
FlexPaper pure can be sealed and with 95% paper content, it is authorised for disposal in wastepaper. They have excellent mechanical strength and deliver the best printing results in gravure and flexographic printing. Only FSC®-certified pulp from sustainable forestry, without optical brighteners, is used in production. High opacity ad dimensional stability guarantee packaging with a genuine paper experience.
FlexPaper barrier is sealable with 85% paper content, very good barrier properties and excellent mechanical strength, high opacity and dimensional stability. The speciality paper, which is also FSC®-certified, offers the best printing results in gravure and flexo printing.
PrimePaper impresses with its natural look and feel, yet is excellent for gravure, flexo, offset and inkjet printing. It is made from renewable raw materials and has high opacity and dimensional stability. The variable basis weight is between 30 and 150 g/m².
All sustainable paper packaging solutions at Felix Schoeller are possible due to the expertise gained from 129 years of specialty paper production, close collaboration with the most innovative minds in the industry, fair production and networked action. The aim is to gradually replace packaging materials with renewable raw materials and, together with partners and alliances worldwide - from the raw material to the shelf and disposal - to drive forward a circular economy that will benefit future generations.
One example of this is our close cooperation with Suzano, the world’s largest producer of pulp and one of our key sources of eucalyptus fibers. Suzano, which plants 1.2 million trees every day, is known for its exceptional commitment to reforesting degraded areas, restoring biodiversity, and fostering social development.
