Stoke-on-Trent – September 5, 2013

Kormoran is expanding its latest range of commercial vehicle tyres to include three new tread patterns available exclusively from Michelin Truck Professional (MTP) dealerships in the UK and Republic of Ireland.

This introduction of these new steer and drive pattern tyres marks the most significant Kormoran product launch for nearly a decade and replaces a previous generation of tyre which has been on sale for ten years. The new tyres are designed for use on road and are suitable for all lengths of journey, featuring an optimised contact patch for excellent mileage potential.

The new range includes a 225/75 R 17.5 for medium weight rigid trucks and midi-coaches, and the 295/80 R 22.5 and 315/80 R 22.5 for heavy trucks and coaches.

Manufactured in European plants, Kormoran products give operators the confidence of being able to buy mid-range tyres, safe in the knowledge that they meet the quality standards expected by professional road transport fleets.

Both the 225/75 and 315/80 steer tyres are categorised B in wet braking according to European tyre labelling regulation, whilst the 295/80 steer fitment, along with all three drive axle sizes are rated C. Adding to the excellent braking capability of these tyres is the M+S (Mud + Snow) rating of all of the drive tyres, whilst the larger 295/80 and 315/80 drive tyres feature the new Three Peaks Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol on the sidewall – a further indication of their traction qualities when driving on snow.

Since Kormoran tyres are available exclusively in the UK and Ireland through the MTP network, operators can be assured their tyres will be fitted by skilled staff from approved service providers. Members of the MTP network are audited annually to ensure equipment, training, reporting and customer service meets Michelin’s high standards – and on passing the accreditation dealers earn the status as a Michelin Certified Centre.

Richard Bezzant, MTP Programme Development Manager, said: “Kormoran tyres are designed to be robust, reliable, regroovable and retreadable, giving operators a cost-effective tyre solution they can be confident in. The full range of Kormoran tyres is widely available across our 110 MTP service locations.”

The three new sizes join the 235/75 R 17.5 and 285/70 R 19.5 versions of the same Kormoran tyre, which were introduced during 2012.
