Koss launches partnership with U.S. Olympic skier Julia Mancuso
(Milwaukee, Wisconsin) - Koss Corporation (KOSS), the Milwaukee-based high fidelity stereophone manufacturer and inventor of the world’s first SP/3 stereophone in 1958, announced today that Julia Mancuso – one of the most decorated Olympic female downhill skiers ever – will begin a new partnership with the company.
Mancuso, a music lover who can be seen wearing headphones at nearly every competition, broke into the World Cup of Skiing at age 15, and has since won more Olympic medals than any other U.S. female in downhill events. She’ll work with Koss to promote the company’s line of fitness and high-fidelity headphones to fans worldwide. She joins fellow Olympic gold medalist and Koss endorser, Dara Torres, as the company develops new products to address the gap in quality headphones designed for women.
“Julia Mancuso is a great partner for our brand to work with,” said Michael J. Koss, President and CEO of Koss Corporation. “She’s a world class athlete who millions of young people look up to. She’s also a music lover who has been challenged to find headphones that meet her every day needs, whether at the gym, at home, or on the road. With Julia on board, along with Dara Torres, our goal is to develop and promote headphones that serve the needs of today’s women.”
Dubbed “Super Jules,” by her U.S. Ski Team teammates, Mancuso’s accomplishments include a Gold Medal at the 2006 Winter Games in the Giant Slalom, two Silver Medals in the 2012 Winter Games, seven World Cup Championships and four podium finishes in the World Championships of Downhill Skiing. Mancuso is an active philanthropist, working most recently with High Fives, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money and awareness for athletes who suffer life-altering injuries while pursuing their dreams in the winter action sports community. She was also active in helping start a campaign driven by skiers to support the 2011 Japan tsunami relief.
“Growing up, music was always a huge part of my life and to this day I don’t go anywhere without my headphones,” said Mancuso. “On the slopes, music helps me get pumped up, and is also a calming factor before any big race. Away from skiing, music inspires me everyday. To get a chance to work with a company like Koss that shares a passion for music, and helping women find the right headphones for our busy lives, is a dream come true.”
As part of that effort, Koss and Mancuso will work on a number of promotional programs over the coming years. One such promotion involves a monthly Facebook giveaway that will begin today and run through December.
During December, fans can win a wide variety of products from Koss, including the Pro DJ 200, Porta Pro KTC, IL 200 KTC and several RUK products. To learn more, visit Facebook.com/Koss.
The company will also work with Mancuso on future endeavors including possible videos, event appearances and product development leading into the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
“We live to bring people like Julia closer to the music they love. We understand that music is more than a nice distraction. It is a place we go, a place that both inspires and motivates,” Koss said.
Since 1958, Koss has been dedicated to creating stereophones that bring you closer to the music you love.
