Kreatel and Orexis co-operate in large broadband project LINKÖPING, 27 March 2001 - Kreatel and Orexis have signed an agreement on co-operation aiming at offering broadband subscribers multimedia services to the TV. Pilot studies will begin shortly in the city of Umeå. Services that will be offered are, among others, IP-based television, Internet surf and several on-demand-services to the TV through Kreatel's Tornado system. Kreatel's Tornado system is the only full-scale, functioning, IP-based system that we have encountered. We believe the potential for this type of product is enormous because of our mature and extensive IT infrastructure, says Mikael Kostet, CEO of Orexis Communications AB. There are 30 000 broadband subscribers in the city of Umeå, and thereby it constitutes a good pilot study market for us. In this project, two companies on the technological front line co-operate, and we are very happy to be able to offer the broadband subscribers in Umeå the ability to access the constantly growing number of interactive, multimedia, services in the broadband networks, says Lars Bengtsson, Managing Director of Kreatel Communications.
