Kreatel receives broadband order worth 15 million USD from Italy's FastWeb LINKÖPING, SWEDEN, 26 June 2001 - Kreatel Communications AB has received the world's largest order of IP-based broadband terminals from the Italian broadband operator FastWeb Spa, controlled by the e.Biscom Group (Milan's Nuovo Mercato EBI) FastWeb has ordered a large number of Tornado/K5-terminals at a market value of 15 Million USD. The terminals will be installed to broadband subscribers in Italy during 2001 and 2002. Three thousand units have already been delivered for immediate installation at FastWeb´s subscribers. "The order is an important break-through for Kreatel as well as for broadband technology as a whole. The deal is a proof that there is a real business demand for broadband services. Hopefully, this order can contribute to diminish the uncertainness that have been connected with the service content and pace of rollout to subscribers. This order underlines the fact that the Tornado system is an attractive solution to broadband operators, and we are, therefore, very optimistic with regard to the future potential of the Tornado system", says Lars Bengtsson, Managing Director of Kreatel. "We have chosen Kreatel's Tornado system because the technology is at the cutting edge. Kreatel´s solution enables us to offer our subscribers a service offering which includes Video-on-Demand, Internet surfing, and communication", says Ruggero Gramatica CIO of FastWeb. About the Tornado system The Tornado system is the market's first IP-based system for multimedia services in the broadband networks. The service terminals, Tornado/K5, are connected to the broadband access point in homes and give the subscribers access to services such as interactive TV, Video-on-Demand and Web surfing using the TV-screen. The software driven terminals are part of a system solution and can easily be updated with new information and new services even after installation. Kreatel has previously delivered smaller series of Tornado/K5 to operators in, among others, Sweden, Norway and Germany.
