SMS in the fixed telephone networks with Kreatel´s Matrix LINKÖPING, 22 march 2001- At CeBIT in Hannover, Kreatel presents new technology that enables SMS in the fixed telephone networks. SMS, which up until now has been possible only in the GSM networks, has become a very popular service, not least among youngsters. Kreatel´s service terminal system Matrix allows households to send and receive SMS without access to a GSM phone. This new technology also enables a vast number of information services like local weather forecasts and news to the fixed phones in households. - We are very happy to be able to offer operators the possibility to, in their turn, offer SMS in the fixed telephone networks. The SMS services in the GSM networks have proven very popular among young people. With Matrix and SMS in the fixed telephone networks, operators can offer to people who do not have access to a GSM phone the possibility to send and receive SMS, says Lars Bengtsson, Managing Director of Kreatel Communications. About Matrix The Matrix system allows aggregation of services that used to require several different products. Matrix facilitates communication serviced by a user interface, a simple keyboard and a display. The Matrix system is a powerful messaging central that handles services like voice mail, e-mail and SMS among others. This powerful platform enables the operators to develop and bundle telecom services to an extent only limited by the imagination. Kreatel´s management system Netloot/TC has a central function in continuously updating the information in the Matrix terminals. Thereby the functionality and the service offering can be updated also in already delivered units.
