During the Nobel Week, on Monday 6 December at 16.00 CET, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences will host a digital press conference with three of this year’s Laureates in Physics, Chemistry and Economic Sciences. The Laureates will participate via video link.

It´s a tradition that the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences hosts a press conference with the Nobel Laureates in Physics and Chemistry and the Laureates in Economic Sciences during the Nobel Week. Due to the pandemic the Laureates will not come to Stockholm this year. Instead, we are planning for a digital press conference where the Laureates will participate via video link from their respective home countries.

One Laureate from each field will participate: Klaus Hasselmann, Physics, David W.C. MacMillan, Chemistry and Guido W. Imbens, Economic Sciences. The press conference will be moderated by Göran K. Hansson, Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences

The press conference will be broadcast live on Youtube and on the Academy’s website. Anyone can follow the broadcast at www.kva.se, without pre-registration. The broadcast, which will last about 30 minutes, can also be embedded on different platforms.

It will be possible for a limited number of journalists to attend the press conference at Vetenskapsakademien, Lilla Frescativägen 4A, Stockholm. In order to participate you need a vaccination certificate (EU Digital COVID Certificate or equivalent) showing full vaccination and valid press ID. It will also be possible to take part digitally on Zoom.

If you are interested in participating in the press conference (either on site or via Zoom), and having the opportunity to put questions to the Laureates, please send an email to: eva.nevelius@kva.se no later than 2 December. We need to know which media outlet you represent and your contact details. We also need to know if you would like to put questions to any of the Laureates. The Press Secretary, Eva Nevelius, will thereafter get in touch directly with the journalists that will be given the opportunity to ask questions during the live press conference.

There will also be possible to make short individual interviews afterwards with the Laureates. Please let us know if you are interested in such an arrangement.
