July 12th, Sacramento, US- Land Life is expanding in North America, investing in a growing team of reforestation and conservation specialists, led by recently appointed Meghan Hertel, former Director of Land and Water Conservation at the Audubon California.

Working from their Sacramento headquarters, the team is developing tech and science-driven reforestation projects throughout North America. Their most recent project is a partnership with EcoCulture and private landowners in Colorado to restore forests lost to wildfire and improve wildlife habitat.  Meghan Hertel: “We are excited about the restoration opportunities here in North America. As a team,we can take the expertise that Land Life is known for, using science, technology and high-quality partnerships to drive scalable, high-quality reforestation projects across North America.

Currently, Land Life has projects in Mexico, Colorado, British Columbia, Puerto Rico and Texas and will be expanding efforts to meet the large opportunity to restore degraded land in North America, building on the company’s successful  European hub that is restoring 12,000  acres in the 2022/2023 planting season. By the end of 2022, the North American team will be hiring additional scientific expertise to help guide reforestation on roughly 2,000 acres with the goal of doubling that impact in the coming two years.

Meghan Hertel: “ With so many forested lands in North America lost to wildfires, invasive pests and disease, and conversion–we have a tremendous opportunity to bring expertise and resources to restoring some of the places we have lost while mitigating climate change.”

Restoring land in Colorado

Together with EcoCulture and the Jackson Trust, Land Life recently started a 3-year restoration on of land that was lost due to wildfires. The partnership kicked off recently with the planting of approximately 20,000 locally sourced seedlings. Land Life leads the planting design, modeling, post-restoration monitoring and provides the funding of this project. EcoCulture leads the on-the-ground planting and implementation.

Evan Reimondo, Reforestation Manager at EcoCulture: “Working together with Land Life means that we are able to make successful reforestation projects possible. Together we are restoring land, sequestering carbon and recreating habitat lost to wildfire.”
