CONSULTATION LAUNCHED TO STRENGTHEN EQUINE MODERN APPRENTICESHIPS
Employers from the equine industry are being invited to join forces with Lantra Sector Skills Council to help shape the future direction of Modern Apprenticeships in Scotland.
An extensive review with businesses has highlighted demand for a new level 2 Modern Apprenticeship in equine to be developed and the level 3 framework to be revised. Lantra is now calling for all industry professionals to take part in an online consultation to establish what they need from the Modern Apprenticeships, handing the industry unparalleled control over their qualifications. Mary Mitchell, Regional Partnership Manager at Lantra, said: “It was evident that a level 2 Modern Apprenticeship was in high demand. We are proud to announce that the framework has been developed but we now need your input to ensure it is relevant, and meets the changing needs of industry. “The new level 2 Modern Apprenticeship framework will be a positive step forward for industry, and coupled with the revised level 3 framework, it will provide learners and employers alike with progression opportunities needed. I would strongly recommend industry takes part in the online consultation, which will be taking place from Monday 23 August to Friday 17 September.” A Modern Apprenticeship is a package of learning and qualifications combined with work-based learning specific to the needs of the industry. It can be delivered entirely in the workplace or through a combination of workplace and learning at an approved college or training provider. The Modern Apprenticeship framework includes relevant industry skills combined with skills required by employers, such as communication, working with others, problem solving, ICT and numeracy. Mary continued: “The new frameworks will become a great way to start a career in equine. Ensuring the frameworks are kept relevant and up-to-date is essential. These frameworks cannot be developed without your help; we need as many industry professionals as possible to help with this consultation. By taking into account new business practices, the Modern Apprenticeships will be fit for purpose and valued by employers.” To take part in the online consultation and shape the future of the equine Modern Apprenticeships, please visit www.lantra.co.uk/apprenticeships.
