Fantastic Career Opportunities for Ex-Armed Forces Personnel
New recruitment campaign provides openings for ex-military services employees
The UK’s leading provider of land-based training courses and qualifications has today announced details of a major recruitment campaign aimed at ex-military services personnel, especially those looking for a rewarding career after their transition to civilian life.
The recruitment campaign should appeal to a wide range of people including those seeking a career in instructing having left the Army, Navy or RAF, and those looking to supplement their income with a second job. Courses cover a diverse range of subject areas.
Sam Jones, a RAF VR(T) Officer with the Air Training Corps has worked as a registered instructor with Lantra Awards for three years. “The most enjoyable aspect of the work is seeing people develop... it’s hard work but very rewarding” says 35 year old Sam from East Yorkshire. “Being an instructor does provide an element of flexibility and you are certainly your own boss... but meeting and working with people is by far the best experience I have in this role.”
Commenting on the new recruitment campaign, Simon Bristow, Marketing & Sales Director at Lantra, says: “We take pride in the quality of our training courses so we like to make sure they’re delivered by the best possible people for the job, which is why we’re focusing on ex-military personnel. Service leavers have great experience of working in teams, health and safety, motivation and discipline. These are some of the essential skills that we look for in our instructors.”
Lantra recommends that potential candidates have some experience within their chosen industry, and hold a recognised teaching qualification or instructional techniques training certificate. They should also hold the relevant technical qualifications and associated licences, along with a good knowledge of health and safety and first aid.
Discussing the parallels between his military services and instructing careers, Sam says: “It’s very apparent that many ex-military personnel have the necessary skills to be very good instructors... there are many similarities that give an ex-military person a head start against people coming from different backgrounds. The ability to make the best of everything and to encourage and motivate people, that is key in the Armed Forces, and is also crucial in being a Lantra Awards instructor in whatever discipline you might choose.”
Sam concludes with a few words of encouragement for anyone interested. “Teaching certain courses can be quite a challenge both mentally and physically, as well as giving you a buzz so if you are up for it why not look into becoming a Lantra Awards instructor.”
