Hundreds of people run the gauntlet at The Gauntlet Games obstacle race
Over 800 people completed the hilarious, muddy obstacle race, The Gauntlet Games in Woodhall Estate, Hertfordshire on Saturday 18th April.
The Gauntlet Games is designed for those who have never completed a 5km, let alone run an obstacle course and the emphasis was on fun, lots of mud and the odd Gladiator to up the tempo along the way.
Sarah King, Director at Gladiator Events says: “It was fantastic to see so many first-timers taking part in The Gauntlet Games. The aim of the race was to see people having fun and a laugh with their mates and with the Gladiators. We had people raising money for charity, taking part with colleagues and some celebrating their birthdays with us. It was our second event at Woodhall Estate so it was great to see some familiar faces from our last event!”
Participants made their way through giant mud baths, slippery soap-sudded water slides, paintball and foam zones all while trying to dodge past the Gladiators with their pugil sticks. The race finished with participants having to run the Gauntlet fending off a number of Gladiators in order to reach the finish line all while spectators cheered on with encouragement.
“The British Red Cross was thrilled to be supporting such a unique and fun event. Everyone that took part was having fun and getting active in the great outdoors. Many of the participants raised money for the Red Cross which was fantastic and we would like to thank them for their efforts both with sponsorship as well as getting past the Gladiators!” says Cathy Curtis, Senior Community Fundraiser.
The Gauntlet Games will be returning to Hertfordshire in September 2015 and will hold events in London, Wales and Brighton before then. To book your place at the latest obstacle race, visit www.thegauntletgames.co.uk.
