On Saturday 13thSeptember, the newest and most exciting obstacle race, The Gladiator Games, launched in Woodhall Estate, Hertfordshire seeing over 450 competitors take part.

The Gladiator Games is designed for those who have never completed a 5km, let alone run an obstacle course and the emphasis was on fun, lots of mud and the odd Gladiator to up the tempo along the way.

Sarah King, Director at Gladiator Events says: “It was fantastic to see so many first-timers taking part in the Gladiator Games. The aim of the race was to see people having fun and a laugh with their mates, and with the Gladiators. Having taken part, everyone is keen to come again next year!”

Participants made their way through giant mud baths, slippery soap-sudded water slides, paintball and foam zones all while trying to dodge past the Gladiators with their pugil sticks. The race finished in an arena where spectators cheered on their friends and family as they completed their final challenges before crossing the finish line.

“The British Red Cross was thrilled to be supporting such a unique and fun event. Everyone that took part was having fun and getting active in the great outdoors. Many of the participants raised money for the Red Cross which was fantastic and we would like to thank them for their efforts both with sponsorship as well as getting past the Gladiators!” says Cathy Curtis, Senior Community Fundraiser.

The Gladiator Games will be taking place for the second year in April 2015 and will again be set over two distances of 5K and 10K and revolve around human interaction with the Gladiators. To pre-register the next Gladiator Games in April 2015, visit www.thegladiatorgames.co.uk
