Lawrence & Schiller Wins Two International Website Awards

A website designed to help motorcyclists ride safely in South Dakota is attracting attention far beyond the state’s highways. The International Academy of Visual Arts has selected SouthDakotaRides.com for a W3 Gold Award.

Created for the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety, South Dakota Rides launched in April of 2012. Designed and developed in partnership with Lawrence & Schiller, the site provides motorcycle riders and other motorists with information on safety, state laws and rider training opportunities.

“The interactive riding map is the most popular section of the site,” stated Micah Aberson, Vice-President of Client Services and Business Development at Lawrence & Schiller. “Videos showing the road from the rider’s point-of-view are integrated with maps that pinpoint where the motorcycle is on the highway. Exploring trails online prepares bikers for real rides across South Dakota.”

Statistics show nearly 80 percent of the people involved in fatal motorcycle crashes are from other states.

The W3 award is one of two honors presented to Lawrence & Schiller by the international group. TacoJohns.com has earned a W3 Silver award.

“It’s an honor to receive this recognition. It means a lot to our team,” said Renée Middleton, Vice President of Marketing at Taco John’s. “However, as a company, we judge our website by how well it helps our business grow. Using that measuring stick, we’ve been successful developing a site that is not only informative but also engaging and entertaining.”

“We developed a new mobile version of TacoJohns.com and integrated social media campaigns through interactive landing pages,” stated Robin Zebroski, Director of Lawrence & Schiller Digital. “The resulting audience engagement has been extremely positive. The website is helping build brand awareness across all of the Taco John’s digital properties.”

The 7th annual W³ Awards received more than 3,000 entries from across North America, Europe and Asia. The W³ Awards honor creative excellence on the web and recognize the creative and marketing professionals behind award winning sites, videos and marketing programs. Only 10 percent were selected for Gold Awards.
