Stress and burnout are primary targets when Framfab presents its health site Docco Today Framfab Innovation is presenting an extensive Internet health site, www.docco.com, whose services will be launched in the spring of 2000. Docco will function as a meeting place for the public and for health and medical services, where people will have the opportunity, through knowledge and digital tools, to take better control of their health. As a first step, Docco is launching a stress center on the Internet, in cooperation with the Karolinska Institute's new stress clinic. "With the help of the Internet, broadband, and other new technologies, there is a tremendous opportunity to supplement today's health and medical processes," says Anders Lindgren, Managing Director of Docco. "With Docco, we make health care more accessible to everyone." Docco has begun cooperation with TelefonAkuten, which as of this fall will take over responsibility for Stockholm County Council's medical care advising. Among other things, both businesses will jointly develop and administer services for health and medical care advising that integrate the Internet and telephony. The businesses also jointly plan to develop services for the international market in the near future. "By offering a health portal on the Internet, combined with, for example, telephone advising and close cooperation with different caregivers, Docco is an example of a new phenomenon we call an Internet Health Provider (IHP)," says Per Lundquist, Vice Managing Director responsible for Docco's health and medical care activities. "Work missed due to illness costs society more than 100 billion SEK per year only in Sweden," he points out. "If with Docco's services we can better enable people and businesses to take charge of their own health, there are great national economic gains to be made." Stress Center One of the first services that Docco will launch is an Internet stress center, in collaboration with various caregivers. The Karolinska Institute's new stress clinic that opened in the beginning of the week is one of the most important collaborative partners. "Treatment and prevention of stress-related complaints are some of today's most important issues. Depression, chronic pain, and burnout are examples of conditions that will lead to higher costs for society. Docco's health portal addresses this with the stress clinic launched this week," says professor Aleksander Perski and Ph D Giorgio Grossi with the Stress Clinic at KI. TCO Chairman Sture Nordh agrees. "Stress and illness are becoming one of our biggest work-related problems. That's why we welcome Framfab/Docco's initiative. TCO has extensive professional experience in these matters. Together we will study the possibility for continued collaboration," says Sture Nordh. The Managing Director of Landstingshälsan in Stockholm, Conny Axelsson, also welcomes the initiative and comments on the need for methods and new aids to reach more individuals and at the same time help the caregivers to focus resources where they are needed. "Being able to offer help that is suited to each situation's requirements will become an important success factor in future care," he says. In order to ensure quality, Docco works with qualified doctors and specialists in all fields. The company is also establishing close cooperation with patient organizations, caregivers, and market-leading business operations in the health and medical care industry. "Network collaboration is an important part of creating a complete health meeting place," Anders Lindgren at Docco points out. Backing Docco are people with a broad knowledge of business development and the Internet and the opportunities of the new e-commerce economy. The company also recruits people with extensive knowledge and familiarity with health and medical care. Docco began operations in December 1999, and is run as an independent company, with ownership divided between Framfab Innovation and Docco's management group, in addition to the PR and advertising company Hälsobyrån AB.
