LDG Budget comment !

Osborne's positive moves in the 2014 statement.

LDG’s Laurence Glynne gives his insight into yesterday’s Budget:

“It seems that the Chancellor has made every effort to boost confidence by encouraging the person on the street to buy a pint which is not such a bad thing! Also, the boost to small house building firms is positive, as is the extension of the Help to Buy scheme and the introduction of Right to Build.

Foreign investors will be further affected. Not only will they be paying capital gains tax from April next year on investment properties, but they’ll also have to pay 15 percent on properties from £500,000 which previously was £2 million, so it will be interesting to see what effect this will have on our international clientele.

The Government are highlighting their support for UK citizens and seem to have less regard for foreign property investors. Maybe they think that those who can afford to buy over here will not be deterred from investing here - only time will tell!

It’s evident that Osborne also used this Budget to appeal to the core vote: pensioners, with his radical savings changes.”
