Gaming! is an Accentuate project funded by Legacy Trust delivered as part of the Create Compete Collaborate (CCC) programme. Inspired by the Paralympics and story of Stoke Mandeville, Creative & Media Diploma staff and students at Chalfonts Community College (Bucks) have worked with industry experts (including one of the designers on Tomb Raider) and Stoke Mandeville Stadium to develop a new interactive online game, which will be played by young people all over the World. The game is based on wheelchair basketball and raises players’ awareness of the physical and psychological strength required by Paralympians, as well as some of the barriers that disabled athletes must overcome in order to compete at a world-class level. The game will be playable through the CCC and Accentuate websites, from the end of July 2010, and will enable young people from all over the world to play against one another. The game will be launched at an event at Pinewood Studios. Guests will have the opportunity to play the game and meet the creators. The Launch is on Tuesday 13th July, 4.30pm-6.30pm, at Heatherden Hall, Pinewood Studios, Pinewood Lane, Iver Heath SL0 0NH. Greg Hodgson, a Senior Leader at Chalfonts Community College described the project as ‘The most significant learning project I’ve ever been involved with.” If members of the press would like to attend the event, contact louise.keyworth@creativejunction.org.uk ______________________________________________________________ Note to Editors: Create Compete Collaborate seeks to promote the Olympic & Paralympic values of ‘excellence, respect and friendship’, to broaden the international outlook of young people in the region and to encourage in their development the qualities of openness, understanding, enquiry, equality and cooperation.
