Crismon Named Managing Attorney for Murfreesboro Office of Legal Aid Society

NASHVILLE, Tenn. April 28, 2011 – The Legal Aid Society, Tennessee’s largest non-profit law firm, announced today that staff attorney Andrae Crismon has been named managing attorney for the Murfreesboro office.

Crismon joined the Legal Aid Society in 2007. He primarily handled civil litigation matters including divorce, orders of protection, housing, unemployment appeals and social security cases.

“Andrae is an outstanding attorney with a passion for justice and helping those who have nowhere else to turn,” said Gary Housepian, executive director of the Legal Aid Society. “His promotion puts the firm’s Murfreesboro office in good hands.”

In commenting on his new position, Crismon added, “In addition to leading the office and representing our clients, I am especially looking forward to continuing to work with Cannon County SAVE and Rutherford County Domestic Violence Center, and to building on the strong support we have from the private bar and United Way of Rutherford-Cannon County.”

Crismon is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University School of Law, where he served as associate editor of the Journal of Transnational Law. He previously worked as a contract attorney for The Law Offices of J. Houston Gordon. In 2006, he served as in-house counsel and director of operations for the coordinated statewide campaign for the Democratic Party of Tennessee. He has served in the Office of General Counsel for the Tennessee Department of Health and clerked for the Honorable Inez Smith Reid of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals.
