Green Tree Court, Exeter’s 5 star Nursing and Residential Care Home, welcomed a new iconic piece of artwork this week with the installation of a beautiful stained glass mosaic, depicting key Exeter historic landmarks to its foyer area.

The artwork has been designed by local artist Sue Smith. Sue has travelled extensively and lived in various countries including the Middle East and the Mediterranean, but has returned to Devon and is now based in her Tiverton studio.

Her glass mosaics blend a combination of colours and textures and as much reclaimed material as possible: stained glass, mirror, crockery jewellery and ceramic tiles so that each of her individual designs is unique in colour shape and size and holds its own individual character. In this case showcasing the architecture of Devon’s County Town.

Lexicon Healthcare’s CEO, Stephen Pattrick said: “A huge amount of time and effort has gone into ensuring the interior, landscape and fittings at Green Tree Court directly contributes to improving the quality of life and wellbeing of our residents. We are delighted to welcome this stunning mosaic to its new home.”

Lexicon Healthcare’s Managing Director Michelle Pattrick RN said: “We are very proud to be offering something unique and very special at Green Tree Court. The highest quality care but also the personal touches, like this beautiful mosaic, tailoring the beautifully designed environment at Green Tree Court to allow its residents to           truly make it their home.”

Sue Smith said: “I was delighted to be given the opportunity to work on this very exciting project and to be able to contribute to the unique style of Green Tree Court. The coloured glass is worked directly onto the mirror to give a better reflection of colour and depth. This then makes the glass change shade in different lights and at different angles, so the residents will be able to explore historic Exeter through light and shadow to create different moods that can stimulate or soothe.”
