New phosphors with up to 50% improved energy efficiency

Through earlier announced partner agreements with developers and producers of phosphors and intelligent materials, LightLab Sweden AB has, during the first half of 2014, got access to a new generation of phosphors offering significantly improved energy efficiency.

“We have measured improvements between 20% and 50% for red, green and blue phosphors, compared to our 2013 recipes, and we are currently in the process of introducing these improved materials into our reference design light powder”, says Jonas Tirén, VP R&D. “There is also significant potential for further phosphor improvements, something that LightLab and our partners will continue to work on during the second half of this year”, Jonas Tirén continues.

Before the resulting improvement on integrated lamp level can be realized, measured and presented, the new phosphors require adaptation of the currently used light powder coating process. This is currently being done with our partners while simultaneously developing further improved phosphor materials.

“We continue to improve the performance of the critical material system with the goal to achieve 60lm/w during 2014” says Jan-Erik Lennefalk, CEO LightLab.
